One huge change that I've made so far has to be getting veneers. For as long as I could remember, I was so shy about my teeth because I had a high canine (or a snaggle tooth) while the rest of my teeth were pretty straight. Throughout life, I just noticed a lot of people didn't have my issue, so it just made me feel uncomfortable and super self-conscious.
I trained my mouth to move a certain way, and of course, when I had to laugh, I would try to do it with my mouth pretty much closed or quickly cover my teeth with my hand. Crazy, I know. But again it was just such a massive insecurity of mine that I never really got over.
After my mid-twenties, I started to get fed up and was like I NEED to figure this out. I didn't want my wedding day to come around and not be able to enjoy the day or be able to smile over one misplaced tooth.
I started doing a lot of research, and right away, I crossed off braces. It would just take way too long, and the shape of my tooth was super sharp, so even if it were straightened out, I still wouldn't be happy with it.
Next option was Invisalign, and I was so excited to start on that but the more dentists I had consultations with, the more I realized it's not a guarantee that Invisalign could help me. Moving a canine tooth is super hard, so that's another alternative that I had to cross off.
Finally, I came across Dr. Sam Saleh's Instagram page and thought, why not!? Let me reach out and see if it's possible to get this done. Other dentists had told me I couldn't fix this with veneers previously, but seeing his amazing smile makeovers just made me think it's worth a shot.
After our consultation, he let me know it was doable, and from then everything happened so quickly and easily. I've posted a detailed video about all of that on YouTube so you can check it out here, but now that it's been over two years I thought it was time for an update.
Since getting my veneers done, honestly, I feel like my life has changed, which I know may sound dramatic but hear me out lol. I remember smiling big like an actual real smile without being insecure, and I was like what?? I have dimples!? No clue until my late 20s! 😂 But other than how great it felt to have nice teeth, also internally I feel like it just lifted this weight off my shoulders that would be a concern day to day.
I felt so free to smile, laugh, talk, and enjoy my life without thinking so hard about something as dumb as a misplaced tooth. Even on my wedding day, I was SO thankful that I was happy with my smile and could enjoy our day fully.
I still get asked if it was worth it since veneers are not cheap and for me, yes it was. Since it affected the way I lived my life, I felt like it was much deeper than having a beautiful smile. The effort it took to cover my tooth was so draining that the whole process was SO worth it, and I would do it all over again if I had to.
I just uploaded my veneers update video where I go over a lot of frequently asked questions like the price, pain, and regrets so make sure you check that out here if you're interested.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to send me a message on Instagram! Also, make sure you're subscribed to my YouTube channel since I'm more active on there than my blog.
