I think we can all agree; not all Mondays are the same. When I had a 9-5 and even now working from home, the kickoff of my week really depends on how my mindset is in the morning. I've learned a few must-dos over the years to have the best Monday possible, and I wanted to share them with you!
Tip #1: Keep your Sunday Relaxing
I truly believe how you spend your Sunday will reflect your mood and energy on Monday. This is one of the first things I changed for myself. In the past I would try to fit in all the plans I didn't have a chance to do on Saturday. Instead of feeling relaxed and refreshed by the end of the week, I would end up being SO exhausted.
Now my ideal Sundays consist of coffee and a walk in the park or brunch, followed by a bit of work for 2-3 hours, grocery shopping for the week and back home by 6-7. After that, it's all about relaxing!
I love lighting all of my candles, having a bath, and getting cozy on the couch with a great show or movie. There's seriously nothing better than that! Off to bed at 10/11 and ready for a new week!
Tip #2: Have a Plan
There's nothing more time consuming than having an unorganized mind. When I don't have a plan, for hours I keep hopping from one task to another- not even completing a single one! Now, on an ideal Monday, I like to plan the week and my day's to-do list before anything else. It's the only way my day will be productive!
Tip #3: Focus on Three Tasks
Speaking of to-do lists, I try my best not to overwhelm myself! As much as I like to plan, I hate looking at a long list of things I have to attempt to tackle in one single day. It's just too much. Focusing on the top 3 things I need to get done instead is totally so much simpler and motivating because you know it's possible. Anything extra I get around to accomplishing is just a bonus!
Tip #4: Have Something to Look Forward to
We all know some Mondays can be long, draining and the least fun. What I love to do is plan something I truly enjoy so I can look forward to it all day. In a way, it makes even the most annoying task more manageable to get through because I know I have a treat waiting for me at the end of it all.
Depending on my mood, that could be anything from a delicious homecooked meal/take-out from our favorite restaurants, watching the Office (best show ever) or anything else that will make getting through a Monday more exciting.
Tip #5: Get Out
Lastly, if you work from home, this is probably the most crucial tip of all, getting out of the house. I try to do this every single day because let me tell you, although working from home has its benefits, it can give you cabin fever like no other.
So even though I get out a few times a day to walk Kanye (my dog, not the rapper- lol!), I try my best to squeeze in something extra if I don't have any other plans to leave the apartment that day. Something as simple as a Target run, coffee shop break, or even extending the walk with my dog has a positive impact on my mood and leaves me feeling more motivated to continue working on my tasks.
Those were all of my tips for an Ideal Monday! I hope you found this blog post helpful and got a few new tips to help you power through the start of your week!
